Montana’s big landscapes and sparse populations present a challenge to colleges and universities. But the internet is shrinking distances for the state’s rural students. In this article, Joe Thiel, director of academic policy and research for the Montana University System discusses how students in rural areas may not have access to the courses they want to achieve their career interests. He then explains how the partnership with Quottly [now Parchment] is enabling Montana’s colleges and universities to share courses across campuses and provide remote workforce training.
